Texas Holdem 101- Just About Everything

Texas Holdem is a poker variation that is quite an easy game to learn. This is the reason why this game has become the most sought after in so many card rooms across the globe both real time and online. In a Texas Holdem game, a dealer gives the players two cards facing down which is usually called the pocket cards or the hole cards. After giving out the two cards, the dealer will then dealt with 5 cards facing up, this is called the community cards. During the final round of betting, the players must have the best hand among the seven cards.

The whole process of the game begins with the first betting round where the two cards facing down are being dealt. After which, three faced up cards are supplied on the table. The players can use the three cards to make a strong hand. This is called the flop. Another round of betting comes to place. Then the fourth card is being dealt facing down and then another round of betting is done. This card is known as the turn card or the fourth street. The final card or the fifth card is then dealt by the dealer followed by the last betting round. The last card is known as the river card. The players now have an option to raise, bet, to fold or to check.

The small blind refers to the player seated immediately to the left side of the dealer, and the big blind is the one farthest to the dealer. A player who wants to enter a hand must call out to the big blind for them to be able to stay in the whole duration of the game, or else they will need to make a fold. As stated earlier, the player having the best hand wins the game. A best hand depends greatly on the standard hands of poker. In in case there is a tie, the player will split the jackpot.

In a Texas Holdem game, there are 3 kinds of betting. The first one is the limit betting structure where the amount that a certain player have to raise or bet is limited according to the amount specified at the beginning of the game. The big blinds and small blinds must have a specific amount to bet on two betting rounds which is the first and second round of betting. On the succeeding rounds of betting, the bets are raised on a specified increments. Take two-dollar increments as an example. The next kind of betting is spread limit where in the bet raising does not depend on a particular amount but dependent on the range or spread of the game. The last kind of betting structure is the pot limit where the limit of bet is the maximum bet. This means that the players are not allowed to exceed the total accumulated amount of pot money.
